Feature Article: Decorating with Fiber Art: Your Home
The Energy Series continues to fascinate me. I am struggling to capture the neon quality of the light. I think I am getting a bit closer, but it’s a challenge. I’m using lots of sparkly threads and neon threads, which help. I am doing some underpainting to get the glow of the light, but it needs the thread work. Working in a series is always challenging, because I get bored easily. But I am making myself stick with it, just to see what comes of it. Admittedly, some are better than others. What do you think of these? These are still in progress. I welcome any comments or constructive criticism.
What is important to you when you come home from work? De-stressing, unwinding, enjoying family and your surroundings, of course. Everyone knows that, right? So how come we don’t pay more attention to our home environments? OK, so maybe some of you do, but you all know someone who doesn’t, right?
I’m giving you fair warning- this is going to be a shameless plug for art, and more specifically, fiber art. From the time we are born, and all through our lives, we are literally wrapped in fabric. It is a source of comfort and protection for all of us. With this association with comfort, fiber art for our homes is a no-brainer. Art made from fiber, such as tapestries, weavings, and art quilts will warm up any room, especially ones with lots of hard surfaces.
What if you like more contemporary art? Fiber art can be avant garde all the way to homey, and everything in between. So the next time you are looking for art, consider fiber art for your home!
If you are having trouble figuring out how to choose art for your home or business, download my free pdf on the right hand corner of this page.
