Welcome to all the new readers! I recently discovered a fabulous group on Facebook. No it’s not my own page, although some people like it ;). This one is called Art Quilts 101, and was started by Sue Freebern. She shares and posts everyday all about techniques and inspiration for making art quilts. There are lots of in process photos, and links to great tutorials. Here’s the link: ART QUILTS 101. Even if you don’t like FB, you’ll like this group. The only rules are share whatever you want, but share how you made it.
I finally got my new felting machine in the mail today- can’t wait to break it outta the box and test drive her.
Here’s the scoop on the blue and orange piece. Covering it with solvy was a good idea, but made it slippery to hold on to, even with gloves, and don’t get me started on the pins. It washed right out and I hung it up to dry.
Quilting over the Solvy.
But I forgot to put batting on the back, doh! So I added that, and quilted some more with glitter thread and heavier cotton. Next came some yummy hand stitching with variegated dyed cotton, and Razzle Dazzle.
And small clusters of beads for a bit of shine and texture. I love the hard shiny textures against the soft matte textures. They play well together.
So here’s what it looks like now, but still adding a few more beads. Then I will finish with the Escape Hatch method and give it a name.
What are you working on? I love to see your comments and pictures. You can head on over to my FB page and share some photos of your creations too! https://www.facebook.com/RoxaneLessaArtist
In other news:
This week I’m off to Asheville for my business coaching Mastermind group with Christine Kane. So important for getting me focused and clear. I hope to get to see some pretty leaves too!
One of my virtual students from California in the MAQG recently said,
“Just completed our 2nd personal coaching session. I am totally jazzed and ready to go to work!
Roxane propels me forward at a greater speed than I would have moved, by confirming my ideas and encouraging me to reach for goals now instead of latter. She inspires me to go broader and deeper with my work.” ~Susan
Reminder, the next MAQG will kick off in January- so keep that in mind if you’d like to join in the fun. If you have any friends who would like to jump in, invite them too!

Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience: “Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!” About Roxane Roxane is a full time studio textile artist and teacher with two girls and 1 fat cat. She is a 2012 Niche Award Winner and exhibits her work all over the world.
