Freeze Frame Artquilts Opens
Here are a few shots I managed to snap with my phone of opening night. I hope you enjoy. There are many more beautiful artquilts to see that I didn’t get a picture of. But my fav was the gorgeous tree in the header photo by Pat Smith.
ROXANE RECOMMENDS: The October Saturday Art Quilting Salon:
Making Small Art Quilts, Adding Stitch
It’s getting close to the Holidays, I know…..I’m early, but for those of you who like to give hand made gifts, not too early.
I am making small 6″ x 6″ fabric/mixed media/thread art quilts that you mount on a canvas in an easy way. These are fast, fun and look great in groups. Kinda like this:
If you want to make some of these, I will have supplies. Just bring $45, and any pre-fused scraps or fabric you have at home. Your sewing machine is optional, I will have 2 Berninas here you can use. If you like to hand stitch instead, bring your little sewing kit and assorted threads.
The next Salon will be Oct. 12th, at the new studio, 1201 W. Lenoir St. Raleigh, NC. As usual RSVP to me at email@example.com. I hope you can come, and bring a friend and your admission is only $35!
To see two of my pieces inspired by photos go to the:
September 26 – October 20, 2013
Artist Reception: September 27, 2013, 6 to 8pm
Page-Walker Arts and History Center
119 Ambassador Loop, Cary, NC 27513
And don’t forget, I make custom commissions too! Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience:
“Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!”
Roxane is a full time studio textile artist and teacher with two girls and 1 fat cat. She is a 2012 Niche Award Winner and exhibits her work all over the world. Roxane enjoys traveling, knitting and most of all working with students who want to create their own fiber art, and not simply make other people’s patterns. Her work is in several private collections and loves doing custom commissions.
If you and a small group of folks want a more private instruction experience, call me. We can work out a studio workshop in my studio. Just drop me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
