Fun, Free Day in Asheville, NC

I'm taking a fun, free day here in Asheville, NC after my coaching retreat with Christine Kane. Love this town! Here are a few shots of my wanderings.

Earth Guild is a fiber lovers paradise.

Pretty Yarns
Basket Weaving
Dyes and Paints
Roving and weaving looms
Then I went to Blue Spiral and saw this beauty made of wood.
The Woolworth Walk had some cool stuff and the original soda fountain.
I saw a few galleries, mostly paintings. I'm a bit disappointed there wasn't much fiber art beyond the woven and painted scarves. Then my leg got tired, and I got some yummy lunch. I can't wait till my leg is up to more walking so I can really explore this town!

The Saturday Art Quilting Salon is on!!!!! We will be focusing on making cool 3-D fan art.

TIME: 10 AM-12 or 1PM

PLACE: MY STUDIO, 1237 N. Blount St. Raleigh, NC 27604

FEE: $45, includes materials and use of my machines and tools. Bring any fabric, heavier threads, decorative threads, perle cotton, yarns, trims, you want to work with. If you bring a friend, your fee drops to $35, but you MUST RSVP, so I can make sure I have adequate supplies and room. Pay when you arrive, cash or check is preferred.

If you would like to learn some of these fun techniques and make your own 3-D textile sculpture, email me at and let me know. Space is filling up fast, so don't wait. I hope you can make it.

And don't forget, I make custom commissions too! Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience:

“Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!”

Roxane enjoys traveling, knitting and most of all working with students who want to create their own fiber art, and not simply make other people’s patterns. Her work is in several private collections and loves doing custom commissions.

If you and a small group of folks want a more private instruction experience, call me. We can work out a studio workshop in my studio. Just drop me an email:
