Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!

Hanging the Show- Artquilts voices

Some of you know I have been working since 2015, on and off, on the  2016 Professional Art Quilters South Members’ Show.  I had expert help from Nanette Zeller, the current president of Paqa-South. She tirelessly guided me through the entire process. Well, last week we finally got to hang all the lovely pieces that our members made.  This show will be up until July 2, but don’t wait to go- it is really good!  Here’s a taste to whet your fiber appetite.

First, the display case, the brainchild of Ana Sumner and Debbie Herbst, filled with many fiber circles made by our members.

There are many moving and beautiful pieces in the show as each artist used the medium of the art quilt to express the theme of voices.  Like Ruth White’s piece describing her experience of chemotherapy.

And this hilarious one by  Roberta Morgan with cartoons of things her mother always said:

And my personal favorite by Jill Kertulla: Voices in My Head

Look at the cool stitching she did to enhance her digital image…

And who is this saucy lady, posing by her self portrait?  Why it’s Lyric Kinard!!

We had the best volunteer co-ordinator in the world, Cathy Hedberg.  She wrangled all the artists to help us hang the show, host the reception, and many other little tasks.  Laurie Shaw made this amazing display and had a cake made to copy the logo of the show!!  The logo and postcards were created by Nancy Lassiter:

Which was delicious, by the way, the cake, not the logo!

There are many more beautiful quilts to see, but you must go see them in person, if you can:

Thank you to everyone who helped make this exhibit a huge success- I couldn’t have done it without you!!

The Needle Felting Flower video IS ready.  So if you haven’t seen it and want to get your free pattern- just email me and I’ll send it your way.  See below.
