HAPPY NEW YEAR AND DECADE!
Here’s a quick recap of the Holidays- very quick! There was a lot of kitty lounging…
Some paper pieced ornament and cookie making…
And of course I took my sweetie to see my students dance in the (what else?) Nutcracker. Here are 2 of my most advanced students in the Snow Queen and Sugar Plum Fairy roles…
I was very proud of them all as they performed very well under a lot of pressure of new roles and coping with injuries and fatigue.
With all of that going on, it was hard to get any studio work done, but I did manage to finalize the large Hawaiian landscape.
I had a hard time with the sky and couldn’t get the softness in the clouds I wanted with just paint and quilting. So I experimented with some white wool roving captured under white netting. I think the effect was better.
Then I pinned it to the wall with the back side out and got it very damp with a spray bottle. I almost used every pin I had!
It’s kinda cool to see all the quilting from the back, although I had to remove a ton of cat hairs that had attached themselves somehow!
Here is a closeup of the signature I always quilt in on the lower right hand corner to finish it all off. I let it dry for several days and now it is waiting for facings and rod pocket on the back. I may need to make two rod pockets side by side since the quilt is so long. I am happy it is almost done and can’t wait to hang it in my living room to remind me of Hawaii!
That’s the latest news from me. What is new with you??? Let’s stay in touch in the comment section below. And as always be sure to ask me any specific questions/challenges in the comments area- I always answer and try to help!
