Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!
SUNDAY ART QUILTING SALON
is coming up this Sunday. Reserve your spot NOW before I run out of space. Last time we worked together to give each other ideas for improving a UFO. Example: one of the ladies was working on an undersea piece. She had some lovely elements that weren’t showing up, because they were melting into the background. (Reminder: previous post on Valuing Value).
Notice how the reeds on the right side are disappearing. We also decided the upper right corner needed something with a darker value to relate it to the bottom half of the piece. So here’s what she did:
See how the lighter value green reeds stand out now? And the little purple fishies at the top add a bit of dark and interest to the top area. Well done! It’s so lively and fun, don’t you think?
If you would like some help with designing your own art quilt or are stuck with a UFO, bring it along to the next Sunday Salon. It will be July 13th from 1-4 pm. Get some one-on-one coaching, and group advice from the other artists. We’ll have ice tea and lots of fun! And let’s not forget, you can now buy gorgeous fabric for your art work at Cary Quilting Co. during the salon. Just click here to reserve your spot.

Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience: “Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!” About Roxane Roxane is a full time studio textile artist and teacher with two girls and 1 fat cat. She is a 2012 Niche Award Winner and exhibits her work all over the world.
