A Little Dancing, A Little Quilting

Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!

This week I took 4 days off from my regular hectic schedule to do a little dancing at our very own West Coast Swing event, here in Durham.  It was a blast, and I was up really late having some fabulous dances.  No, I don’t have any pictures of me, but here’s a shot of the dance floor:

When I wasn’t catching up on sleep, I was finally able to do a little quilting on The Biltmore piece.  It’s been a very challenging piece.  I had to replace a piece of fabric and quilt over it again, because I joined the fabric and there was an unsightly seam down the middle.

It looks much better now. I didn’t even rip out the quilting underneath.  I just fused a new piece of fabric on top and quilted it.

You can see it is quite densely quilted, using my Monopoly clear thread in the bobbin.  Love that stuff!

Here are some more detail shots of other areas of the quilting.

Only the lower half is mostly done.  I haven’t touched the wisteria yet.  And you can see that very few of my straight lines are actually straight.  But I actually like that quality of imperfection. Or at least that is what I’m telling myself!  😆

And lest we not forget, Huey and Gracie are snuggling in for a long nap.  He has one brotherly paw around her-awwwwww!

  1. I love seeing your progress. Thanks so much for sharing the close ups. The quilt is beginning to breathe and live. I’m intrigued by how you’re going to bring out the wisteria.

    1. Thanks Ann, I won’t really know until I start working on that area. As I said I am slowly marching my way up the quilt from bottom to top, so that is coming. My goal is to finish it before I go to Houston. Better get going!
