Quilting Arts TV

Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!

As promised, here is what happened last week in Ohio on the set of Quilting Arts TV. I got there on the Wednesday before my shoot to get the lay of the land.  I’m so glad I did!  I got to unpack my boxes, organize and explain my segments and get tips from the producer on how to proceed on set.

Also I got to meet some fabulous artists:

The line up for that day.  Can I just say that this team of people were like a well oiled machine?  Everyone was fabulous, helpful, and professional.

Then came the day of.  I had to coordinate outfits with Susan so we wouldn’t clash!  She was simply the best.  She kept things moving smoothly, and prompted me at all the right times.

Of course I had a fabulous top of the line Bernina to use, and here is Jeanne, the Bernina expert getting it all ready for me.

Learning how to not hold things up out of the camera’s range was a bit challenging.

I was only a bit nervous, and had to stop once, but otherwise it went very well!  I demo-ed my Sculptured Silk technique and my 3-D Textile Painting technique.  The actual show should air on PBS in January 2015.  I’m very excited to share my techniques with a wider audience, and I’m very grateful for this huge opportunity.

In other news:

I have 2 newer pieces at the quilt show put on by the Sandhills Quilters Guild this weekend, so if you are going, let me know so we can meet up.

As always, a big thanks for reading!

CUSTOM COMMISSIONS And don’t forget, I make custom commissions too! Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience: “Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!” About Roxane Roxane-Web-Images-007 Roxane is a full time studio textile artist and teacher with two girls and 1 fat cat.
