Sharing More of My Progress

Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!

This week I have made tiny, baby steps of progress on my landscape quilt.  I have had “help” from Miss Gracey.

If you haven’t met her yet, here is my latest studio pest, helper.

She loves to eat the wool batting I use.  Maybe because it has that animal wooly smell??

Anywho, she provides much comic relief around here.  You can see from last week’s fiasco with wrinkles, the wrinkles are still here in this picture, in deep shadow.  Ugh!

Time to go play elsewhere so Mommy can get to work….

Fortunately, the re-fusing and quilting was successful. Yay! Progress!!!

Now I have moved onto other interior areas of the quilt. I try to start somewhere near the middle or an edge and work slowly in one direction.  That eliminates the creation of more air bubbles and wrinkles by trapping fullness in the quilt sandwich.  Here I am previewing some thread colors.  I generally use Superior Threads Polyester threads on top with a 12 or 14 Topstitch Titanium needle (also from Superior Threads).  And of course, Monopoly clear polyester filament thread in my bobbin.

Little by little, it is coming together. And I have learned to celebrate each little bit of progress I make.

And in other news….

Clara Nartey, a fellow quilt artist and blogger, and SAQA member, has written a fabulous post about how I use Ruzuku- an online teaching platform for my online classes.  You can read it HERE.  I’m so impressed with her blog, and the care and thought that goes into each sentence.  I have become a subscriber myself and I suggest you do too!  Blogging regularly takes dedication, time and clear focus, so I really appreciated being on her blog.

Thank you, Clara!
