The Wonders of Teaching Online

Hi Everyone! A big welcome to all the new readers!

I can’t say enough about the wonders of teaching online!  My online class, Create a 3-D Textile Painting, is about half way through.  The ladies are starting to send in their pictures of their work.  It’s been super fun to see what they are making, and how they have made it their own.  I’m really loving teaching online as I get to reach out to new people from all over.

Check out this wonderful piece from Linda Williams.  I’m so proud of her!

I’m thinking of offering this class again soon, so let me know if you want to try it.  It’s only $29.00.

And, speaking of my online classes, here’s the link to my new one, Dancing with Design-Composition for Quilters: CLICK ME  It’s open for registration, and starts April 2nd.  You can do it with a friend and get a Quilty Buddy price break, too!

IF you want to give it a try for FREE, there’s a free lesson you can do with tons of great info.  Go HERE to get that free lesson, and enjoy!

Every once in a while, I actually get to make something in my own studio.  These days with teaching, coaching, and writing, it’s hard to make the time.  But I tell my students all the time, you have to schedule time.  So I do, or I’d be a hypocrite!  I’m still quilting the felt painting with my trusty BERNINA 750 QE and the clear round darning foot.  The back is starting to look pretty.  I have used a tan 60 wt. bobbin thread.

and here’s a detail of the top:

I am free motion quilting with 30 wt. cotton threads, polyester threads, and a wonderful variegated hand dyed thick thread that is very temperamental.  I have it tamed by lowering the top tension, and slowing my speed.  I will be traveling this week to Asheville, so I will have to wait until I get back to finish this.

I hope you find some time for yourself in your sewing room this week, and enjoy the Spring weather!

That’s it for now, have a wonderful creative week!

Did You Know? That I am on Pinterest?  Did you know that there are many amazing art quilts and traditional quilts being pinned every day, just waiting for you to look at? Never before has so much inspiration been in one place.  It’s like having an art museum in your hands.  If you haven’t checked it out, there are many, many types of things being pinned. It’s super easy to get started.  You can take a look at my pins, which are organized on different “boards” HERE.  Once you are on that page, you can click on the Get Started Button to make your own page on Pinterest.  Then start pinning!  I can spend a lot of time on Pinterest, because it’s all visual.  And I have a feeling, you will too!

CUSTOM COMMISSIONS And don’t forget, I make custom commissions too! Read what my client Glenda had to say about her custom commission experience: “Normally, I would be anxious about commissioning someone to do a work of art such as this. However, I felt a connection to you when Leigh showed me your work. It resonated with me and when I met you, you seemed almost a personification of your work. I immediately felt comfortable with you and knew that what you would create would be stunning. And it is!”
